CONWAY — The rapper Desiigner was arrested in Horry County this week on a domestic violence charge, according to police records.
The 28-year-old, whose real name is Sidney Royel Selby III, was taken into custody on March 23 by Horry County authorities and released from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center the following day on $1,500 bond, online jail records show.
The incident that led to his arrest happened around 5:30 p.m. on March 2, according to a county police report. Officers responded to Selby’s home near Conway in response to a domestic disturbance.
A woman told police Selby arrived home upset and threw his keys on the counter, according to the report. She then took the keys, but Selby allegedly grabbed them from her pocket when she was trying to get a sweatshirt from the closet, ripping her pants.
The woman said she tried to talk to Selby and wanted to pray with him, but he allegedly threw her to the ground near the front door, according to the report.
The conflict caused minor scratch marks on the victim’s arm and lower back, the report stated.
Police said Selby had left by the time they arrived at the home.
The victim told police she had video of the altercation but could not access the camera system.
The report noted that the case would be presented to a judge for a decision about charges. Selby was ultimately charged with third-degree domestic violence.
The rapper is known for his hits in the 2010s, including “Panda” and “Timmy Turner”.
