Fairfield man’s shooting death may have stemmed from family dispute, officials say

A 29-year-old man was shot to death early Sunday during an argument with a relative.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Ja’Oree Marquel Brown-Allen. He lived in Fairfield.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded just before 1:30 a.m. to a report of a person down at 5051 Parkway Alley. They arrived to find the wounded victim.

Fairfield Fire and Rescue pronounced Brown-Allen dead on the scene at 1:43 a.m.

Sheriff’s spokesman Henry Irby said the preliminary investigation indicates the victim and a relative were involved in a verbal dispute which led to shots fired.

A 27-year-old woman was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 11:18 a.m. Sunday.

Irby said Sunday she had not yet been formally charged.

Brown-Allen is the 110th homicide in all of Jefferson County so far this year.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 205-325-1450 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
