CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WOWK) – Cabell County Schools officials say they have an increased police presence at Spring Hill Elementary after a student was threatened outside school hours.
According to a CCS spokesperson, the threat happened both after school hours and away from school property. The spokesperson says the Huntington Police Department responded to the threat immediately and is actively investigating the situation.
The spokesperson also says that while there is no ongoing danger to students or staff, the increased police presence is out of an abundance of caution and to reassure families that this threat is being taken seriously.
According to CCS, the person believed to have made the threat is not enrolled in any Cabell County school.
“Any individual found to have made threats of violence to a student, school staff, or the public will be prosecuted in accordance with all applicable laws and policies,” Cabell County Schools officials said.
