CASPER, Wyo. — An Evansville woman pleaded not guilty Wednesday to felony charges of alleging she carried on a prolonged sexual relationship with an inmate while employed at the Casper Re-Entry Center.
Shelli Ann Poulignot, 28, is charged with four counts of sexual assault in the second degree. Wyoming statute prohibits the exploitation of a position of authority in sexual relations.
Each count carries a minimum penalty of two years in prison and a maximum of 20.
Poulignot is presumed innocent unless found or pleading guilty.
In September last year, an official with the Wyoming Department of Corrections handed over the results of an investigation into the relationship between a 41-year-old inmate and Poulignot. The file included cell phone downloads, emails and recorded interviews.
Interviews with both participants reportedly corroborated evidence of a protracted sexual relationship with around 100 encounters in various locations in Natrona County, including in the CRC work transport van.
Oil City News reached out to CRC by email after business hours on Thursday for comment on Poulignot’s employment status.
