We are still awaiting word from the city on the road’s potential timeline for reopening.

FARGO, N.D. – The City of Fargo has closed Elm Street in north Fargo due to the rising Red River.

The street has been closed to traffic between Thirteenth Avenue North and Fifteenth Avenue North.

During the closure, traffic is being detoured to Third Street North.

The city says the closure is necessary due to high water causing safety concerns for travelers.

The road will be reopened when the river lowers to a safe level.
