A bomb threat on Tuesday prompted the evacuation of Easton High School in Talbot County. Police said there were no injuries, and the investigation is ongoing.
Capt. John Bollinger, administrative commander for the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, said a bomb threat was called into the school at about 12:30 p.m.
“We had an immediate response, evacuated all the students and staff from the school, and put them in a safe location,” he said. Police are still working at the scene. “They have bomb dogs going through the school right now, checking to make sure it’s all safe. But all the students have been released.”
Bollinger said the evacuation was immediate and the threat was isolated to the one school.
Debbie Gardner, communications director for Talbot County Public Schools, said buses were dispatched from the district office at about 2 p.m. to the secure location, and students began a modified dismissal roughly 30 minutes later.
“All the students and staff were evacuated and everyone is safe, and we dismissed from the evacuation site and operations proceeded as normal from there,” she said.
Criminal investigators from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
