East Mountains shooting suspect will stay in jail

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The man accused of shooting his family earlier this month in the East Mountains will stay in jail until his trial.

A judge decided Tuesday to hold Luis Sanchez in custody. He is accused of shooting his wife and their two children at their East Mountains home last week.

The shooting left their 4-year-old son died. Sanchez’s wife, who is a prosecutor in Bernalillo County, is in the hospital, along with their 1-year-old child.

Sanchez had no criminal history prior to the shooting.
