VALLEY CITY – Jamestown Eagles Legion Baseball earned its first win of 2026 Friday by defeating Edgeley 6-4 at the Bridge City Classic at Charlie Brown Field.
The Eagles held a 2-1 lead before improving to 6-1 on one play in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the bases loaded, Kale Backen cleared them with a triple, then scored on an error.
As it turned out, Jamestown (1-1) needed all those runs. Edgeley scored three times in the top of the seventh before Nolan Maulding struck out Edgeley’s Brady Hanson to end the game.
Haden Smith drove in a run with a sacrifice fly for Jamestown. Ethan Oettle had two hits and scored two runs.
Zach Gaiser (1-0) worked two innings in relief for the victory. Maulding earned a save. Starter Cayleb Miller pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out three.
