Drop off your child at the Medina County Parks for some summer fun

MEDINA, Ohio — The Medina County Park District is providing fun and educational activities for children this summer.

Drop-off programs allow parents to bring their children to a park location, drop them off and pick them up at the designated time at the end of the program.

Parents can feel confident that their kids will be supervised and captivated during the program.

Here’s what’s coming up in June:

Kids Get Out and Fish Camp: 9:30 a.m. to noon June 3-5 or June 24-26 at Buffalo Creek Retreat, 8708 Hubbard Valley Road in Seville.

Do you love to fish? Learn some new tips and tricks to catch all different types of fish, including bluegill and bass.

Take advantage of this opportunity to fish the closed ponds at Buffalo Creek Retreat.

Bring your own fishing rod, tackle and bait if you prefer, but fishing rods and bait will be provided.

This is a three-day program geared toward all fishing skill levels.

Register your 7- to 12-year-old for this program. Groups are small and space is limited. Please sign up for only one three-day class per child.

Register by May 31 for the program beginning June 3 or June 21 for the June 24 program. Free.

Adventure Camp: 9:30 a.m. to noon June 10-12 at multiple park locations: June 10 at Letha House Lodge, 5800 Richman Road in Spencer; June 11 at Buffalo Creek Retreat, 8708 Hubbard Valley Road in Seville; June 12 at Chippewa Yacht Club, 5878 Longacre Lane in Chippewa Lake.

Whether you’re a new or seasoned outdoor adventurer, take advantage of this three-day camp to try new adventures each day.

With the help of a naturalist, explore fishing, hiking, kayaking, campfire cooking and more.

Ages 10-14. Register by June 7. Free.

Nature Explorers: Pond Life: 9:30 am to noon June 10 at Oenslager Nature Center, 6100 Ridge Road in Sharon Township.

Spend the morning exploring the park. We will search for and investigate the wildlife in and around the pond in this aquatic adventure.

Completely outdoors, this drop-off program is designed for your nature-loving child. Ages 7-12. Register by June 8. Free.

Nature Explorers: Beautiful Butterflies: 9:30 a.m. to noon June 12 at Buckeye Woods Park, 6335 Wedgewood Road in Medina.

Spend the morning exploring the park. Join the staff as you explore the world of beautiful butterflies.

Completely outdoors, this drop-off program is designed for your nature-loving child. Ages 7-12. Register by June 10. Free.

Nature Explorers: Signs of Wildlife: 9:30 a.m. to noon June 24 at the Lodge at Allardale, 141 Remsen Road in Medina.

Spend the morning wandering through the fields, stream and forest as we search for signs of local wildlife.

Completely outdoors, this drop-off program is designed for your nature loving child. Ages 7-12. Register by June 22. Free.

Nature Explorers: Creek Critters: 9:30 a.m. to noon June 26 at Letha House Park East, 5745 Richman Road in Spencer.

Wade your way through this creek walk adventure as you search above and below the water’s surface for all kinds of creek critters.

Completely outdoors, this drop-off program is designed for your nature-loving child. Ages 7-12. Register by June 24. Free.

Calling all Earth Keepers! 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 24 at Oenslager Nature Center.

Through games, movement, music and an art activity, we will deepen our relationship with the earth as we explore the elements and learn more about the turtle, frog, eagle and butterfly clans.

All supplies provided. Dress appropriately for outdoor exploration.

This class is a collaborative offering by the Medina County Art Council and Medina County Park District.

Instructor Mary Jo Oklessen holds a master’s degree in outdoor and music education and has over 35 years’ experience teaching young students about music and nature.

Ages 8-12. Register by June 24. Free.
