Driver tries to fool carpool lane on 10 Freeway in West Covina with fake jacket ‘passenger’

WEST COVINA, Calif. (KABC) — A driver trying to cheat the carpool lane on the 10 Freeway in West Covina was stopped this week after California Highway Patrol officers noticed something a bit unusual in the front seat.

Officers said the driver had wrapped a jacket around the front passenger seat and fastened the seat belt across it to make it look like someone was sitting there.

CHP officers quickly realized the fake person and pulled the driver over.

No additional details about possible citations or charges were immediately released.
