Dominican national charged with possession of child pornography

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Dominican national living in Providence was charged after allegedly downloading child sexual abuse material, according to Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

21-year-old Juan Acosta Gomez was charged for receipt and possession of child pornography.

According to Bloom, the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force were notified in October that CSAM images were allegedly being downloaded to Gomez’s devices.

Police executed a search warrant for his residence on Nov. 4 and allegedly found “numerous CSAM images and videos” on Gomez’s devices, according to Bloom.

Gomez is currently detained and is expected to appear in federal court at a later date.
