District 7 Legion Baseball Tournament Central: Day 2

LaMoure, ND (NewsDaktota.com) – The Class B District 7 Legion Baseball Tournament continued at Townsend Field in LaMoure on Tuesday July 21st. All Oakes, LaMoure, Lisbon, and Enderlin games can be heard on KDDR The Tornado and Thunder 106.1.

Game 5: #5 Wahpeton P20 B’s 6-14 #2 Lidgerwood/Hankinson (LOSER OUT)

Game 6: #6 Enderlin P221 3-7 #4 Oakes P36 (LOSER OUT)

Oakes advances on as they beat Enderlin for the 3rd time on the season 7-3. Oakes started hot with 3 runs on 2 hits and an error in the first inning and didn’t look back. They’d score 2 more in the 3rd off of a hit and an error. Enderlin would cut into the lead with 2 runs on a hit and an error in the 4th but Oakes would instantly respond with 2 runs of their own. -Enderlin would score one last time in the 5th but they wouldn’t get a hit after that falling by a score of 7-3.

The winning pitcher was Harry Neustel (6.0 IP, 4H, 2BB, 8K, 3R, 2ER) and the losing pitcher was Ethan Cimbura (6.0 IP, 7H, 5BB, 5K, 7R, 2ER).

Enderlin’s season comes to a close while Oakes advances to play L/H in the final loser out game of the day.

Game 7: #2 Lidgerwood/Hankinson 1-4 #4 Oakes P36 (LOSER OUT)

Oakes punched their tickets to a semifinal matchup tomorrow at 3 as the eliminated Lidgerwood/Hankinson 4-1. Oakes got the scoring started early scoring 2 runs on 3 hits in the 1st. They would then chase Brody Mahrer from the game in the 2nd with 2 runs on a hit and an error to take a 4-0 lead. L/H would get their first and only run in the top of the 3rd off of 2 hits to make it 4-1. After the 3rd both Michael Hoistad and Matthew Bladow would lock in and not allow a hit from either team and the score would hold at 4-1 for the rest of the game giving Oakes the win.

The winning pitcher was Michael Hoistad (7.0 Ip, 2H. 1BB, 9K. 1R, 1 ER) the losing pitcher was Brody Mahrer (1.1 IP, 3H, 5BB, 3K, 4R, 4ER).

L/H’s season comes to a close with the loss while Oakes will play the loser of Game 8 tomorrow at 3:00 pm.

Game 8: #3 Lisbon P7 vs #1 LaMoure P19 -7:30 pm

LaMoure held off several comeback attempts to earn the right to play for the District 7 title game beating Lisbon 7-6. LaMoure got started early with 4 runs on 3 hits and an error in the 1st and tacked on a 5th run in the 2nd to make it 5-0 early. Lisbon would battle back to make it 5-4 with their own 4 run inning but LaMoure would quickly respond to return the 2 run lead. Lisbon would again score in the 5th to make it 6-5 but would not be able to come up with the tying run. LaMoure would score a much needed insurance run in the 6th as Lisbon would score again in the 7th but strand the tying run 90 feet away as LaMoure would win 7-6.

The winning pitcher was Owen Lesko (6.0 IP, 9H, 2BB, 6K, 6R, 2ER) the losing pitcher was Cam Cordero (4.1IP, 6H, 6BB, 6K, 6R, 3ER). The save goes to Colby Thielges (1.0IP, 1BB).

Lisbon will play Oakes in a semifinal tomorrow at 3:00 pm. LaMoure awaits in the championship tomorrow at 5:30 pm.
