It’s extremely frustrating for me when I talk to my MAGA friends about why I dislike President Donald Trump so much. Their typical response goes something like, “Sure he’s a jerk, but better than Joe Biden.” When I press them to stop deflecting and address the serious concerns about Trump’s dishonesty, bigotry and shady dealings, they resort to the lame accusation that I obviously must have Trump Derangement Syndrome. They’ll do anything to avoid explaining why they continue to support such a deplorable person.

Why is this? What’s the real issue here? My educated guess is that it boils down to their own reluctance to admit they have no problem with Trump’s dishonesty, bigotry and shady dealings. They’re simply too embarrassed to admit it.
