Cynthia Marshall

New London, NH – Cynthia Hall Marshall (1936–2026) passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family. Cynthia was the beloved wife of David E. Marshall of New London, New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her parents, Marjorie and Ralph Hall, and her brother, Spencer Hall.

Cynthia was born in Boston and raised in Sharon, Massachusetts. She attended Gould Academy in Maine and earned a B.A. in American Literature from Middlebury College in 1959. She devoted much of her life to education and to serving others through a long and meaningful career.

She is survived by her husband, David; her children, Anne (Mac) McDonald, Breck (Jennifer) Marshall, Caroline Marshall and Darwin Jurentkuff, and Jennifer Marshall and Tim Weydeveld; her 13 grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

A Poem- A Tribute to Cynthia

Eighty-nine years of love and light,

A life well-lived, a heart so bright.

She wore so many hats so well-

A mother, wife, and guide to tell,

A teacher, mentor, trusted friend,

Whose wisdom seemed to never end.

With David, her partner through it all,

Sixty-seven years standing tall.

From a one-room schoolhouse to the UN’s halls,

She bridged cultures and answered calls.

A military wife, steadfast and true,

She showed us hope and perseverance through.

Her humor-zany, bright, and fun-

Could turn any moment into one

We’d treasure, laugh about, and hold so near,

A lover of the arts, of Jeopardy! and song,

Of Cheez-Its and Pepsi offered all lifelong.

She showed us what matters by how she lived,

Through quiet strength and all she gave.

Her kindness lifted great and small,

In every choice, she taught us all.

Today we raise a glass in her name-

For eighty-nine years she caught our falls,

Remembering the joy and love she gave

A legacy of love that outlasts us all.
