Crews knock down fire at abandoned house in Johnston

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A fire broke out at a vacant house on Maria Avenue in Johnston just before 7 a.m. Tuesday.

A fire official at the scene said the fire started in the back of the house. One side of the structure is now completely charred.

The flames were knocked down and no one was hurt.

The state fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
