Owners of a Charles County cremation service were charged Thursday with the improper disposal of human remains.

Charles County State’s Attorney Tony Covington said in a news release that Brandon Angelo Williams and his wife, Rosa Iyonna Williams, were each charged with eight separate counts in connection with their alleged conduct in operating Heaven Bound Cremation Services LLC, which was shut down by the state health department in January 2025.

Inspectors with the department’s Board of Morticians and Funeral Directors found at least 18 bodies inside the crematorium that were not yet cremated, with some having been left in the facility for almost a year.

Seven of the Williamses’ counts refer to seven different fetuses, with one being a 2-month-old infant.

The District Court of Maryland Commissioner issued arrest warrants for the Williamses, but no arrests have been recorded in the Maryland Judiciary database.
