LARAMIE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Cowboys basketball team will welcome the Utah State Aggies to the Arena-Auditorium on Saturday evening for a “Gold Out” showdown where fans are encouraged to wear gold UW apparel. Those attending the game will be able to receive special Gold Out shirts before the game while supplies last.
Wyoming heads into the contest with a 13–10 record and a 4–8 mark in conference play, most recently having fallen on the road to first-place San Diego State. The Pokes average 77.6 points per game this season while allowing 72.4 per night.
Despite struggling in conference play, the Pokes are the top rebounding team in the Mountain West Conference, and their 36.8 boards per game lead the conference. The Cowboys are grabbing just over 12 offensive rebounds per game, which also leads the MW.
Utah State, meanwhile, earned votes in the most recent Associated Press and Coaches Poll rankings. The team boasts a 19–3 overall record and is 10–2 in conference play. The Aggies downed New Mexico 86–66 in their most recent contest. The team is shooting 51% from the field, which is the best efficiency in the MW and ranks No. 15 in the nation. Its 83.7 points per game is also tops in the conference.
Wyoming is led in scoring this season by Leland Walker, who is posting 14.9 points per game. He also adds a team-high 3.5 assists per game, which ranks sixth in the conference. Naz Meyer adds 12.2 points per game for the Pokes and leads the team with 4.9 rebounds per game.
Other key members of the squad include Khaden Bennett, who adds 9.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per night, and Damarion Dennis, who provides 9.2 points per game on an efficient 49% from the field.
