Cooler on Sunday Following a Record-Setting Saturday

Temperatures soared today across the state, shattering record highs from Norfolk to Imperial. Here is a look at high temperatures from Saturday as of 5:45 p.m. CDT.

Above are  few of the record high temperatures set across the state on Saturday.

Going into Saturday, here are the top 5 warmest March temperatures on record for the state of Nebraska. Safe to say we will have to rewrite the record books after this one.

Heading into the overnight hours, temperatures will remain mild with variable cloud cover, according to the latest runs of StormCast.

Red Flag Warning remains in place until 4 a.m. CDT on Sunday, March 22. Dangerous fire weather conditions will be possible through the overnight hours.

Temperatures are expected to stay mild through early Sunday morning, with lows reaching the 40s and 50s.

Overnight lows will fall to the lower 50s in Lincoln as winds pick up out of the north and northwest. Our typical low temperatures this time of year are in the lower 30s.

A cold front will move across the state early on Sunday morning, bringing strong winds to the majority of the state. Wind gusts peaking between 40 and 50 miles per hour will be possible as colder air moves across the central plains.

Wind gusts are expected to peak Sunday morning in southeast Nebraska before slowly tapering off during the afternoon.

High temperatures on Sunday will be significantly cooler, though still above average in southeast Nebraska.

Morning cloud cover and strong winds will limit the heating we see here in the Capital City. Nonetheless, we will still try for highs in the lower 60s, only close to 40 degrees cooler than Saturday.

Temperatures continue to cool on Monday with a small chance of rain in the evening. We warm back up to the 80s before another front moves through on Thursday. This will give us another small chance of precipitation. It does not look like we get a chance at any meaningful precipitation totals until next weekend. We are keeping an eye on the chance for rain for the Red-White Spring Game next Saturday, followed by highs in the 70s.
