With the baseball-hungry crowd that exists in Conway and the greater Horry County area, Conway’s city administrator Adam Emrick says the fit would be a natural one.
Emrick was at the team’s Clemson event, when the potential partnership for Conway clicked clearly.
“We do things a little bit different in Conway, and I think that’s exactly what the Savannah Bananas do, too,” Emrick said.
“We saw the game in Clemson. My wife and I were sitting there, and I said ‘This feels like something Conway would do’… For me, what we do in Conway for all the holidays and all the things we do that are a little bit outside the box, that’s what they do. This is a perfect match as far as I’m concerned.”
The city put out a call on social media on Wednesday morning to spark community interest and engagement, which drew a large response across online platforms.
Miller says Coastal Carolina has submitted its bid to be a host, which includes the overview of information for the Bananas, including potential dates, facility information, sponsorship and multimedia rights and more.
Both Miller and Emrick say they feel confident that Conway is in a good position to be a part of the 2026 Banana Ball World Tour. CCU had representatives at the event at Clemson, getting a feel for what a visit to Conway might look like.
“We know, just in talking to them, that they have been interested in the Myrtle Beach, Conway area for a long time now, trying to break into it,” Miller said. “We would love to be that facility that they get it done.”
According to a social media post from the Bananas, over 150 cities in over 40 states have submitted their official interest in hosting Banana Ball games in 2026 for the team’s yearly tour.
There is now a push for local communities to show their interest, which could help decide where the Bananas play in 2026.
