Chilly Friday With Lighter Winds

Today will be a cooler & less windy day across eastern Nebraska! NW winds will gust to near 15-20 mph through this afternoon. Temperatures will be warmer farther southwest. Cloud cover will keep northeast Nebraska cooler.

NW winds will gradually ease through the morning hours. Substained winds staying between 5-10 mph through Friday evening.

The ongoing wildfires out west will bring a decent smoke concentration towards the north this afternoon. South winds up to 15-20 mph will pick up near McCook by 2pm. With temperatures warmer farther west, this mixture could increase more fire danger this afternoon. We will keep a close eye on fires through this evening.

SUNDAY: A GREAT day to stay inside! BLUSTERY conditions, light rain & blowing snow start Sunday morning. Rain will develop farther south Sunday morning with blowing snow occuring through Sunday evening. UNCERTAINITY on snow totals as Models have trended down every run. Stay tuned for the latest.

The best chance for more snow will be into parts of far northeast Nebraska through Sunday night. Blowing snow will make for challenging snow totals. Farther south and east, T-1″ looks to be likely. SW Nebraska will likely see a trace at most.

Travel plans Sunday? Expect blowing snow across Nebraska. This will make for hazardeous travel due to low visibilities. Strong NW winds will be gusting to near 45-60 mph all day Sunday.

Friday will be chilly under mostly sunny skies. Saturday night into Sunday, a potent cold front moves through bringing increased chances for rain/snow across northeast & eastern Nebraska. Sunday and Monday are great days to stay inside. By Wednesday, temperatures reach the upper 70s & low 80s with limitid precipitation chances.
