A 27-year old Cheyenne man has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident early Thursday morning.
Adrian Maggos was booked into the Laramie County Jail on attempted first degree murder charges Thursday afternoon.
According to a Cheyenne Police Department news release, police were called out at 4:15 a.m. on Thursday on a report of a shooting in the 100 block of East 3rd Avenue. When officers arrived they found a 31-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
CPD investigators say it looks like Maggos and the victim got into an argument on the sidewalk near a home. Maggos allegedly shot the victim and then ran away.
The Public Helped Out In The Investigation
Police set up a perimeter and then deployed drones and and a K9 team. Shortly before 9:30 Thursday morning the area was cleared and traffic began flowing normally through the neighborhood while officers canvassed the area. Police say neighbors helped investigators with tips and video footage.
The release goes on to say “By early afternoon, detectives learned that Maggos had returned to the scene on 3rd Avenue and was planning to turn himself in. Members of the Crime Prevention Team and a U.S. Marshals Service Task Force Officer located Maggos at the residence and took him into custody without incident.”
Police say the shooting appears to have been an isolated incident and don’t think there is any kind of ongoing public safety threat.
