CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — When it comes to big events like the Cycling USA Pro Road National Championships, it’s all hands on deck. Volunteers and local businesses all play a huge role this week, and are actually helping each other out.
Black Sheep Burritos and Brews is a local Charleston business and is serving as the headquarters for Volunteers during the Pro Road National Championships. They were also the location for the headquarters last year, as well.
“It’s awesome and we’re honored to play that pivotal role,” said Kevin Madison, General Manager of Black Sheep Burrito and Brews. “It’s crucial when you’re out there for hours at a time, and you have to eat, stay fueled and stay hydrated. We’re honored they chose us again this year, and hopefully in the future they choose us again.”
With the help of the Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau, Black Sheep is able to provide food and water, with a safe space to relax after a long day of volunteering.
“It takes a lot of people to put this race on,” Madison said. “We have all these people who keep us safe, along with the hundreds of volunteers that it takes to put this race on.”
