FESSENDEN (NewsDakota)- For Carrington volleyball, the halfway mark of Region 2A play arrived on Thursday night.
And so far, so good.
The third-ranked Cardinals (11-2, 6-0 Region 2A) cruised to a sweep (25-16, 25-17, 25-11) of the Harvey/Wells County Hornets (8-4, 2-5 Region 2A) on Thursday night at Fessenden-Bowden High School.
After some early back-and-forth in the opening set, the Cards took off thanks to a service run by Sophomore Mya Neis, who took the line in an 8-5 set and went on a seven-point run on serve to give Carrington the breathing room they would not relinquish in winning the opening set 25-16.
The second set went just as well, with Carrington winning nine of the sets’ first twelve points and were steadily in front by at least five the remainder of the set, which ended on a Marah Johnson kill for a two-nil lead.
The third set was competitive early at 7-6 Cards before they took control with an 15-4 run that extended to a 22-10 lead. The match ended with Brina Wolsky assisting freshman Jordyn Kollman on her first varsity kill.
