HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WOWK) – Students in Cabell County had a crafty way to enjoy summer fun while also putting their knowledge to the test with a cardboard boat race!

The June Harless Center hosted its “S.T.E.A.M. Cardboard Boat Regatta” Friday to challenge students in grades 3-12 to design, build and race a boat. The catch is that they can only use cardboard and duct tape!

The event is part of the Remake Learning Days in West Virginia, a statewide learning festival hosted by the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative at West Virginia University.

This was the second year that students from the Putnam Area Robotics Team were supporting the participants.
