Caldwell, Garden City and Nampa mayoral candidates will square off in live debates hosted by KTVB ahead of the Nov. 4 election.
BOISE, Idaho — KTVB is set to host hour-long debates this month with mayoral candidates for three Treasure Valley cities ahead of the election on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Early voting is available in most counties, including Ada and Canyon, until Friday, Oct. 31. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Idaho voters will decide on a number of local mayoral, city council races, levies and bonds.
In Caldwell, incumbent Mayor Jarom Wagoner is being challenged by city councilmember Brad Doty and Eric Phillips, the former Caldwell School District director of student safety and emergency operations. Wagoner’s run for reelection arrives as his first term concludes.
The Caldwell mayoral debate airs live on the KTVB+ app at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28. KTVB+ is available for free on Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV. Download the streaming app to watch the upcoming debates, newscasts, weather updates and more.
Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling earlier this year announced that she will not be running for reelection. Kling delivered her final State of the City address on Oct. 15, months before her term will end in January once a new mayor is sworn in.
Four mayoral candidates look to guide Nampa over the next several years – Justin Buchholz, Rick Hogaboam, Eric Myricks, and Melissa Sue Robinson.
Hogaboam, the current Canyon County clerk and former city councilmember, will go toe-to-toe with Myricks, an established jazz musician who runs the Elijah Rock Foundation Inc., live on KTVB+ at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29.
Garden City Mayor John Evans in May announced he will not be seeking a sixth term, setting up a wide-open race for the mayor’s office for the first time in nearly 20 years. Evans served five terms after taking over in 2006.
Current city councilor Bill Jacobs, College of Western Idaho (CWI) trustee Molly Lenty and Teresa Roundy eye the Garden City position.
Jacobs and Lenty will detail priorities and share their stance on hot-button issues during the third mayoral debate at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30.
All participating candidates accepted KTVB’s invitation to participate.
Candidates invited to participate in their respective debate have met KTVB’s established criteria of having raised at least $5,000 in campaign donations by Oct. 1. This threshold reflects our decades-long practice and the way we have consistently determined debate eligibility.
KTVB anchors Morgan Romero and Joe Parris will moderate each debate.
KTVB will have live coverage on Election Day on Channel 7 and KTVB+ following the NBA game at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4. Check out KTVB’s Voter Guide for additional election information.
