The board appointed Jarrod Kosakowski, 47, to the position at a regular meeting last Thursday, according to a notice posted on the town website. Kosakowski will fill the position that Michael Wright vacated last month.
Wright resigned at the end of a late September Selectboard meeting after an unsuccessful bid to appoint himself as chairman. Wright was the second Selectboard member to resign this year. The first was Dan Perry III, who had served on the board for 20 years.
In the August special election the town held to replace Perry, Kosakowski, a member of the Vermont National Guard, lost to current board member Jean Carlan by just two votes, 184-182.
The board opted to appoint someone to the position this time in order to fill it more quickly and have a full board of five to navigate the complicated end-of-year budget process, board member Josh Allen said in an Oct. 9 meeting.
