ASHLAND, Ky. (WOWK) — Revolutionary Racing Kentucky LLC (RRKY) has announced the officials race dates for the new quarter horse track in Boyd County.
RRKY, owner and operator of Sandy’s Racing & Gaming and the newly constructed Sandy Ridge Racetrack located behind the gaming facility, announced that the Kentucky Gaming & Racing Corporation has officially awarded the company its 2026 quarter horse race dates.
The company says they will be hosting their first race meet starting Summer of 2026.
The inaugural meet will feature eight race days on the following dates:
- August 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, and 28, 2026
- September 4 & 5, 2026
The company says each race day will offer approximately $250,000 in total purses.
Sandy’s Racing & Gaming in Ashland, celebrates 3 months of winning
“We are excited to add another breed of horse racing to the greatest horse racing Commonwealth in the Union,” CEO of Revolutionary Racing Kentucky Prentice M. Salter says.
President of the Kentucky Quarter Horse Racing Association Christina Sowders says, “We are thrilled to be racing in Ashland next year! Quarter Horse racing is so exciting, and we look forward to bringing horse racing to the Ashland area. We plan on 3 million in purse money with the addition of Derby and Futurity races.”
The race track is located behind Sandy’s Racing and Gaming center, next to the Camp Landing Entertainment District.
Construction of the track is expected to be complete in 2026.
