Boy, girl hurt in shooting at Warren Central High School after football game

INDIANAPOLIS — A boy was in serious condition and a girl was stable at hospitals after being shot Friday night after a football game at Warren Central High School, Indianapolis police said.

Capt. Don Weilhammer of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said he did not know if the girl and boy were students at local schools. Warren Central defeated Lawrence North 53-37 in the game aired live on MyINDY-TV 23.

Weilhammer said the police for the Warren Township school district contacted IMPD about 10:35 p.m. Friday about a girl with a gunshot wound. IMPD officers arrived to find the boy with a gunshot wound before the girl was located. No additional information was immediately available on the boy and girl’s identities or ages.

Investigators did not immediately have any information on what may have led to the shooting at the east-side school at 9500 E. 16th St., or who fired the shots.

Circle City Broadcasting reached out to the Metropolitan School District of Warren Township for information but did not receive an immediate response.

The school district will be on break next week.
