Des Moines police are investigating after a body was recovered from the Des Moines River Saturday morning. Police say just after 11:15 a.m., first responders were called to investigate a report of a person in the Four Mile Creek near E. 33rd Street and Hubbell Avenue. When they arrived, they found the body of a man. Investigators identified the man as 45-year-old David Earleywine. Earleywine was reported missing in late November 2025. Family, friends, and law enforcement searched multiple times for Earleywine. Investigators say there are no obvious signs of a traumatic injury or anything criminal. The Polk County Medical Examiner’s Office plans to conduct a forensic investigation to determine how he died. Police are continuing to investigate.
