Bismarck man pleads guilty to sexual assaulting 10-year-old girl, faces up to life in prison

BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR-KFGO) – A Bismarck man charged with multiple counts of gross sexual imposition of a victim under 15 is changing his plea to guilty.

Police officers found Isiah Simms with a 10-year-old girl walking around the North Dakota State Capitol grounds on August 23rd, 2024. The girl’s family called police after she reported through Snapchat that she was being sexually assaulted by Simms outside the Capitol.

Through investigation and interviews, police detectives determined that a sexual assault occurred and arrested Simms.

Simms pleaded guilty to four AA felony counts. He’s scheduled to be sentenced in September.

In North Dakota, AA felonies carry a maximum of life in prison.
