INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana and Crew Carwash are teaming up for their annual “Crew for Kids” fundraiser on Saturday.

It’s become an annual tradition now in its 17th year. A portion of the profits from Ultimate and Ultimate 360 car washes will be donated back to Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The nonprofit’s CEO, Darcey Palmer-Shultz, joined WISH-TV’s Daybreak Friday morning. She says Saturday is typically one of her organization’s largest fundraisers of the year.

“This helps us raise funds that support our program,” Palmer-Shultz said. “Also, get out the word that we need mentors. And so we hope people will consider volunteering while they’re out too.”

All 60 of the Indiana-based company’s locations in Indiana, Illinois, and Minnesota are participating, supporting numerous local chapters.

The Central Indiana chapter has about 1,000 kids waiting to be matched with a mentor.

“The whole program is intended to support kids and to develop their potential and has proven to be so impactful at that,” Palmer-Shultz said. “It also really is a meaningful experience for the adults. I think everyone who volunteers knows that it shapes them and adds value to their lives, too.”

Saturday’s fundraiser will also feature appearances by local sports mascots and other mayors. Crew Carwashes are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
