Wilder, VT – Betty Jane Fifield, 98, died Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Valley Terrace in Wilder, VT.

She was born March 26, 1928, in Rochester, NH, as a daughter of Henry and Marion (Hussey) Allen. Betty grew up in Rochester where she graduated from Spaulding High School. She met Raymond Fifield while he was attending Plymouth State College and they were married April 17, 1948. The couple settled in West Lebanon where they started their family before moving to White River Jct. and then in West Hartford for many years. Most recently Betty lived in Wilder. In their retirement she and Ray travelled around the country in their motor home as members of the Family Motor Coach Association.

Betty enjoyed playing bridge and was talented at hand work including knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, and needlepoint. She and Ray both enjoyed any excuse to visit with friends, old and new, and loved going out to dinner or on car rides to see friends. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Red Sox and Patriots.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2020; two grandsons, Christopher Fellows, and Benjamin Pierce; her brothers, Edward & Richard Allen as well a sister Barbara Kendall, sister-in-law, Rachel Curtis and nephew Kenneth Curtis.

Betty was survived by her children, Bruce Fifield (Nancy) of Wilder, Terry Fellows (Gary) of Wilder, Laurel Pierce (Peter) of Claremont, NH, and Fran Lamb (Carleton) of Hartland; grandchildren, Nathan, Heather, Jennifer, Adam, Daniel, and Andrew; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in the West Lebanon Cemetery on Sunday, October 11 at 1PM.
