Better Weather Ahead For The Weekend

We’ve been stuck in the wind and rain as our Nor’Easter has churned across Southern New England all day. We’re not done yet either, with rounds of heavy rain continuing until close to midnight, and gusty winds continuing through the evening as well. Many cities across the region have already seen upwards of an inch of rain. Temperatures have been well below average as well–largely been in the upper 40s and low 50s today, and lows tonight will be in the low 40s as the rain continues.

This storm lifts into Northern New England late tonight, and rain dies down to a few leftover showers after midnight. That said, as a final parting gift, it does look like we’ll see a few showers, and even a pocket of heavy rain tomorrow morning, with one or two showers lingering into the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 50s.

Another important note for Friday: the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning from Friday morning through Saturday morning for the Pawtuxet River in Cranston/Warwick. River levels look like they’ll reach minor flood stage tomorrow afternoon, which could lead to flooding in low-lying parking lots and roadways. River Street, Pioneer Avenue, Bellows Street and Venturi Avenue in Warwick could be impacted.

Saturday is better, with the dreary weather finally starting to part. We’ll have a mix of clouds and sun, and while a stray shower or two looks possible, most of the day looks dry. Highs will be in the upper 50s and low 60s. Sunday looks better– partly sunny and in the mid 60s. However, the nicest day really looks like it’ll be Memorial Day itself. We’ll be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s!
