ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A wildlife camera captured a rare sight in the Bosque in Albuquerque earlier this month. Video from May 14 showed a beaver making a quick appearance before walking off. The City of Albuquerque’s Parks and Recreation Department believes the beaver dammed up the wildlife pond southwest of Tingley Beach, and he may be responsible for building four dams a night, all on his own. “It’s nice to know how many we are dealing with, so we know how often we have to come out and check to remove beaver material from beaver dams. But it has been fun to see his activity,” said Maura Hearn, Bosque Field Technician.

When asked if officials were looking to catch the beaver, Hearn said, We’re not going to do anything but get footage of him.”
Beavers are known to live along the Bosque, and some runners have said they heard beaver tails slap the water, but Parks and Rec said it’s rare to capture them on camera.
