Bears to sign playmaking veteran Devin Bush Jr. as they rebuild linebacker corps: source

The Bears will reset at linebacker after releasing Tremaine Edmunds by signing veteran Devin Bush, a source said. Bush agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal Monday and will sign when contracts can be finalized Wednesday.

Bush, 27, is a former No. 10 overall pick who played the last two seasons for the Browns. He started every game last season and finished with 125 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and two sacks. He returned two of those interceptions for touchdowns.

In his seven-year career, he has played 98 of a possible 117 games. Most of his missed time was when he tore his ACL in 2020.

The Steelers drafted Bush out of Michigan in the first round in 2019, and he played four seasons for them before leaving for the Seahawks in free agency. After one season in Seattle, he went to the Browns.

Bush’s father, also named Devin, played in the NFL from 1995 through 2002 and was a starter on the Rams’ 1999 championship team.

Edmunds was with the Bears from 2022 through ’24, and the team released him last week to save salary-cap space. He remains a free agent.
