The Beach Boys on Saturday canceled a performance scheduled for Monday at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer, citing circumstances outside their control.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of The Beach Boys or the Alaska State Fair, the performance on August 25th has been cancelled,” the band said in a statement from fair organizers.

The band, led by founding member Mike Love, had been set to take the stage Monday evening. Additional information about the reason for cancellation wasn’t included in the statement.

“The Beach Boys look forward to returning to the Alaska State Fair in the future,” said the band, which has been performing around the country on its “Sounds of Summer” tour.

Alaska State Fair officials said ticketholders who bought tickets from their fair website will receive a full refund of the ticket cost and fees automatically, and it may take several days for the refund to appear on the card used in the transaction.

The Beach Boys formed in California in 1961 with a lineup that included Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, Love — their cousin — and Al Jardine. The current lineup includes lead singer Love and 1965 addition Bruce Johnson.

The initial announcement of the band’s performance at the fair preceded the death of Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson in June.

Other acts slated to perform at the fair include Wiz Khalifa, Sean Paul, Zedd, Foreigner, Dwight Yoakam and David Spade. Additional information is available at the fair’s website.
