Baton Rouge 2nd & Charles moving to a larger location | Business

2nd & Charles is moving its Baton Rouge store to a new, larger location this summer.

The store, which buys and sells books, movies, music and video games, is set to open at the end of July in the former Joann Fabrics and Crafts space in the Siegen Lane Marketplace. That space has been vacant since early 2025, when Joann shuttered all of its locations.

The space at 10545 S. Mall Drive is 22,000 square feet, double the size of the current 2nd & Charles store in the Acadian Village shopping center.

The Baton Rouge 2nd & Charles store opened in January 2023 in a space that had been occupied by Pier 1 Imports, which closed three years earlier.

2nd& Charles specializes in moving into empty retail spaces and cramming them with thousands of books, DVDs, CDs, vinyl records, comic books and collectibles.

2nd & Charles has four locations in Louisiana, with stores in Lafayette, Covington and Houma. The company is owned by Alabama-based Books-A-Million and has 46 locations in 19 states.
