The Arkansas Fitness Professionals Hall of Fame will officially launch its mission this spring with its first awards banquet! The evening will celebrate excellence in health and wellness by inducting 10 standout professionals as the inaugural Class of 2025. Little Rock trainer and Tap In University founder Quen Spencer will serve as emcee for the ceremony. Heather Baker, president and publisher of AY Media Group, will attend as the guest of honor, while Arkansas sports icon and former Razorback football player David Bazzel will deliver the keynote address. Additional special guests include Miss Arkansas 2025 Kennedy Holland and Miss Teen Arkansas 2025 Amelia Lisowe, who will assist with award presentations.

Kentucky-based artist Lori Larusso’s painting installation playfully tumbles across the Robyn and John Horn Gallery with no regard for centerline. An upturned shopping cart spills its contents onto the ground like an ironic cornucopia. There is both humor and reason for reflection as these things take on coded meanings in new contexts.

Now in its 24th year, Arkansas Foodbank’s Empty Bowls Gala, for which AY Media Group is proud to serve as media sponsor, is the only fundraising gala on the calendar of the state’s largest hunger relief organization. This year’s black-tie event begins with a cocktail hour featuring live jazz and signature espresso martinis, followed by a dinner prepared by Petit & Keet and a program highlighting the Foodbank’s work and impact. The event will also honor longtime volunteers Lynn and Joe Copeland, whose record-breaking involvement over the course of 25 years exemplifies the quiet dedication shared by so many volunteers showing up week after week to ensure food reaches neighbors with dignity and care.

U of A Meat Scientists and local pitmasters will provide professional BBQ tips and live demonstrations, then the Boss Hawg ribeye turn‑in and auction will take place, where five BBQ teams will compete for a $1,000 prize and trophy, presenting plates of ribeye steak, a side and a dessert to celebrity judges (Jeff Edwards, Deacue Fields, Taylor Priest, David Bazzel), and a duplicate plate will also be auctioned. All proceeds benefit the Department of Animal Science’s scholarship fund and student competition teams.

Arkansas Run for the Fallen – Friday, March 13 – Sunday, March 15

In an apolitical reflection of remembrance, a team of runners will embark on a 155+ mile run to honor Arkansas service members who have died while serving on active duty since September 11, 2001. The run begins in Ozark and ends in Little Rock on the steps of the state Capitol. Each mile of the run is dedicated to an Arkansas Hero. The run team stops at each marker where they present an American Flag and a biographical card in honor of a fallen service member who has died while serving since 9/11/2001 in an effort to create a 155-mile memorial trail through Arkansas.

It’s a must-see event packed with music, dancing, laughter, and excitement featuring special appearances from players, cast, mascots, and other surprise guests!

 

2026 Keep Little Rock Beautiful Cleanup – Saturday, March 14 – Sunday, March 15

Where: Clinton School of Public Service (Little Rock)

When: 9 a.m.

Volunteers will check in at the school, hear opening remarks from local leaders, enjoy light snacks and receive cleanup supplies. From there, teams will disperse for a large-scale street cleanup throughout downtown Little Rock, helping remove litter and beautify shared public spaces. Following the cleanup, participants are invited to return for grilled hot dogs and chips provided by Keep Little Rock Beautiful as a thank-you for their time and service. This event is a great opportunity to give back, connect with others and be part of a statewide effort to keep communities clean, safe and welcoming.

 

“America 250: Common Threads” (Opening Weekend) – Saturday, March 14 – Sunday, March 15 (runs through July 27)

Where: Crystal Bridges Temporary Exhibition Gallery (Bentonville)

When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In 2026, the United States will mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. “America 250: Common Threads” will both commemorate the events of 1776 and reflect on 250 years of American art and civic participation. An early engraving of the Declaration of Independence will anchor a group of historic documents displayed alongside textiles, paintings, toys, and other works from 1776 to the present. The exhibition considers how artists and national leaders document American history. “America 250: Common Threads” explores how American artists historically foster civic participation and strengthen community relationships.
