Around the Horn: Hillcrest, Idaho Falls earn conference road wins

EASTERN IDAHO — Games throughout the region were rescheduled Thursday due to inclement weather.

Eastern Idaho hosted just two games, with Hillcrest beating Skyline and Idaho Falls beating Shelley, both on the road.

Hillcrest @ Skyline

The Knights (11-2-1, 2-0) piled up 11 hits and seven walks to get past the Grizzlies (6-8, 1-3) 16-13.

Junior Cole Croft led the way for Hillcrest, going 4-for-5 with two triples, four runs and four RBIs. Senior Liam Lynch swung Skyline’s big bat, finishing 3-for-4 with a run and four RBIs.

Idaho Falls @ Shelley

Powered by sophomore Hudson Palmer, the Tigers (8-5-1, 3-1) bested the Russets (7-7, 0-5) 15-7.

Palmer went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs. Fellow sophomore Treygan Riedle scored four runs and stole two bases — of Idaho Falls’ 11 combined steals.

Shelley’s McCoy Remington homered and drove in two runs in the loss.
