For the sixth year in a row Arkansas has been named the “Most Pro-Life State” in the nation by Americans United for Life.
Making the announcement at the state Capitol Monday, Sarah Zagorski, a spokeswoman for Americans United for Life, cited Arkansas’ law banning nearly all abortions, along with other recently enacted “new pro-life measures” as the reasons why the Natural State has kept its top ranking.
Americans United for Life, an anti-abortion non-profit based in Washington D.C., ranked states based on their abortion laws, along with laws prohibiting assisted suicide.
Arkansas law bans abortions, except in medical emergencies to save the mother’s life. The state’s abortion law took effect shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 landmark decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, allowing state to ban abortion.
