EVERETT — The AquaSox staff crunched the numbers since winning the Northwest League Championship Series on Sept. 13, and it turns out the franchise proved successful in an additional way.
A franchise-record 147,051 fans filled the stands at Funko Field during the Frogs’ 68 home games, which included two playoff wins that clinched the league title. The AquaSox sold out 25 games and averaged 2,163 fans at home, the club announced on Thursday.
According to the AquaSox, nearly four million fans have attended games during the franchise’s 40 seasons.
“These numbers reflect what we’ve always known — the Everett community and Snohomish County have some of the best fans in all of baseball,” Everett general manager Danny Tetzlaff said in an AquaSox press release. “Our fans have created memories here that will last a lifetime, and we can’t wait to carry that spirit with us into the next chapter of AquaSox baseball when we move into our new ballpark.”
Funko Field, previously known as Everett Memorial Stadium, first opened its gates in 1984. For the past 30 years, the AquaSox have been the Seattle Mariners’ affiliate, with Félix Hernández, Adam Jones, Julio Rodríguez, Cal Raleigh, and Bryan Woo among Mariners who spent significant time in Everett. Previously, the team was an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants for 10 seasons.
“One hundred percent of the credit goes to the community — without them, none of this is possible,” Tetzlaff added. “Their support allows us to grow the game, create memories, and give back to the people who make this team special.”
