Albuquerque police are searching for a man they say is tied to two shootings, including a deadly shooting downtown, and warn he is armed and dangerous.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque police are searching for a man they say is tied to two shootings, including a deadly shooting downtown, and warn he is armed and dangerous.

The Albuquerque Police Department said detectives identified Juan Maestas, 36, as the suspect in a Sept. 2 shooting at the Maverick Gas Station at 3601 Montgomery Blvd. NE.

Police said homicide detectives also determined the same man was responsible for a homicide near Second and Marquette Friday afternoon.

APD said Maestas is likely unhoused and officers last saw him on foot near Broadway and Marquette. Police said he was wearing an Ecko Unlimited shirt, blue jeans and gray shoes.

APD warned the public that Maestas is considered armed and dangerous.

If anyone has information about where he is, police said they should call 505-242-COPS.

The search remained active as police worked to find him.
