NEW CHURCH, Va. – The Eastern Shore Regional Animal Control Facility (ESRACF) is asking the public for assistance after they received seven cats found abandoned on Miles Road in New Church.

A passerby reportedly discovered an open wire crate on the side of the road, covered with a blanket, with wet food thrown inside. The crate door was open, leaving the cats completely exposed. Thankfully, a citizen happened to drive by at the right moment and was able to keep most of the group together before they scattered. Seven cats were safely recovered, with one having run into the woods before it could be caught.
