Andy Warhol exhibit goes on display at Clay Center

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) – Screenprints from artist Andy Warhol go on display at the Juliet Art Museum at the Clay Center in Charleston on Wednesday.

The exhibit is titled “Good Business: Andy Warhol’s Screenprints,” and features 90 iconic prints, including Marilyn Monroe, dollar signs and Campbell’s soup cans. This is the first time the exhibit will be featured outside the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, his hometown.

“They’re really interesting because there is a lot of variations, and it gets to show kind of the way Warhol was able to manipulate and play around with different medias and experiment with the process,” said Lidsay Miranda, curator of art and engagement.

Along with displaying his work, the exhibit highlights Warhol’s technical printmaking process and his business model. It also explores how his screenprints functioned not only as artistic expression, but as a cultural commentary.

“Hosting this exhibition in Charleston is an extraordinary opportunity — not just because of Warhol’s international stature, but because his story resonates so strongly with our own regional artists,” said Miranda. “Warhol turned everyday objects into icons, challenged the status quo, and blurred the lines between fine art and popular culture — and that spirit of reinvention is something deeply familiar to creatives across Appalachia.”

The exhibit will be on display through March 29, 2026. For more on ticket prices and hours, visit the Clay Center’s website.
