Beaver Meadow’s Andrew Surprenant dominated the NH Stroke Play Championship. Over the course of three days on three different golf courses, he proved his quality to win it all by four shots.

The 54-hole championship was played at Breakfast Hill Golf Club (round one), Pease Golf Course (two) and finished out at Portsmouth Country Club on Thursday. Surprenant finished 13-under-par (71-63-67—201), four ahead of Kingston’s Joe Leavitt, to win his first New Hampshire Golf championship outside of the Junior Tour.

“It feels really good to finally get one in a non-junior event. So I’m really happy,” he said.

The Southern New Hampshire University junior finished tied for fifth place after round one, but caught fire at Pease and Portsmouth to claim the title.

Round two saw him take a one-shot advantage with an 8-under-par day. He was remarkably consistent and hit all 18 greens with elite ball striking and accuracy. The real difference, though, was his putts falling.

Leavitt, a former stroke play champion, was still chasing him closely behind. Surprenant would have to replicate a similarly consistent performance in Portsmouth if he wanted the title. He did just that.

After a 1-under par front nine, Surprenant turned it up a notch to birdie four holes on the finish with a par on the last hole to close out the tournament with a bogey-free 67 card in the last round.

“I just had the mindset of coming out and doing what I’ve been doing,” said Surprenant. “I hit a lot of fairways and center of the greens. The greens were much quicker than they have been the last two days but I just continued to two-putt and figured the putt will fall.”

His consistent striking, landing 43 consecutive greens, put him in the right spots to win it. He adjusted when he needed to and separated himself from the rest with focus.

The victory was a milestone win in the Penmen’s amateur career. The 2025 NE10 All-Conference First Teamer can now look ahead to NCAA fall golf, poised to continue winning.
