INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Alexandria residents will soon have to travel to a different city to register a vehicle or renew their license in person.
The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles announced that the Alexandria branch, 2211 S. Park Ave., will close July 2.
“This decision wasn’t easy. As customer transaction preferences continue to change, it is necessary for the bureau to continue to adjust our customer service model,” Commissioner Kevin Garvey said in a release.
Garvey encouraged residents to use other nearby BMV locations, myBMV, and kiosk services.
The Tipton branch, which currently co-operates with the Alexandria branch, will continue to operate two days a week. However, starting July 9, its operating days will change to Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
