The second meeting is set for Tuesday night, in the wake of allegations against the civil rights leader.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque city leaders will meet again Tuesday to consider removing Cesar Chavez’s name from streets and buildings.
Tuesday’s meeting will ensure the renaming follows city ordinances and to get public opinion. The first meeting took place March 31.
The possible renaming comes after multiple women, including civil rights icon Dolores Huerta, came forward in March with sexual abuse allegations against Chavez. Huerta and Chavez co-founded the United Farm Workers.
Tuesday’s meeting is set for 6 p.m., at the National Hispanic Cultural Center on Fourth Street in Albuquerque.
