Bowling Green’s first ever memorial walk honoring the victims of the AIDS epidemic is coming to Preston Miller Park later this month.
Matthew 25 AIDS Services is organizing the walk, a nonprofit organziation that runs clinics and provides support for those affected by HIV and other illnesses. It will take place at Preston Miller on Oct. 31.
“We want it to be something the entire community feels invited to be part of,” Rachel Trout, public relations and fundraising specialist for Matthew 25, stated in a release. “The AIDS Walk gives us an opportunity to stand alongside those impacted by HIV, remember those we have lost and continue breaking down stigma.”
Registration is open until Oct. 1 for individual walkers and some spots are still open for sponsorships.
Donations are also being sought through the walk.
The walk will start at 10 a.m. at the park, lasting until 2 p.m. For information about registration and donating to the organization, visit https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/aids-walk-2.
