Abortions resume again in Missouri after circuit court ruling

Abortions can resume again in Missouri.

On Thursday, Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Jerri Zhang issued a temporary injunction against several of the state’s abortion regulations, ruling that they likely violate the voter-passed constitutional amendment that restored many abortions in Missouri. They had been on pause since May 27th, when the Missouri Supreme Court ruled that Judge Zhang used the wrong legal standard when she initially ordered that abortions could resume.

KMBC-TV in Kansas reports that Zhang’s ruling did leave some prior regulations in place, including requiring in-person appointments.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said he will appeal the ruling.
