‘A second chance’: Tom Brady announces current dog a clone of late pup Lua

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Pro athletes are always on the cutting edge of science and technology to up their game, and former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was no exception.

In fact, he published a book about it in 2017 with “The TB12 Method: How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak Performance.”

With his playing days over, Brady is taking his technology tendencies from the field to home.

According to ABC News, Tom Brady recently announced that his dog Junie is actually a clone of his former dog Lua.

Brady credits biotech and genetic engineering company Colossal Biosciences with bringing Lua “back to life.”

Colossal recently acquired Viagen Pets and Equine, which is described as “the global leader and expert in animal cloning,” according to a press release.

According to ABC News, Brady said:

A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family’s elderly dog before she passed.

In a few short months, Colossal gave my family a second chance with a clone of our beloved dog.

Lua was a pitbull mix who passed away in December of 2023, who was adopted by Brady and his family in 2014.
